Ascott scales up AI-ready infrastructure as it eyes ‘agentic commerce’

Ascott’s collaboration with Amadeus are going to focus on implementing the Amadeus Central Reservations System (ACRS). The application programming interface-enabled software are going to enable Ascott to define and distribute stock across its varied profile of over 1,000 residential properties by both room categories and various other property attributes.

This includes Ascott’s existing AI tool, Cubby, a chatbot that the business introduced in 2023. Working as a “travel buddy” to guests, it can give knowledge covering destination highlights, room referrals and travel ideas.

” While AI is already assisting Ascott make significant strides throughout business and working functions, the bigger opportunity lies in what comes next,” said Kevin Goh, Chief Executive Officer of Ascott, in an April 23 announcement. “Rather than waiting to see just how agentic AI performs out in traveling, we are developing the framework to shape just how it does.”

Together with Accenture, Ascott is going to create “the fundamental architecture required for a next-generation AI-enabled travel ecosystem”. The framework is going to integrate Ascott’s core systems– like its central booking, real estate administration and commitment systems– to assist in machine-mediated interactions that can be released throughout various guest interfaces.

On the other hand, to assist in a skill culture that accepts AI, EHL is working with Ascott to create training programs that will qualify its affiliates with the tools and capabilities to support the improvement. In addition, the programmes are anticipated to cultivate brand pride and a shared hospitality mindset across Ascott’s accounts.

CapitaLand Financial investment’s wholly-owned accommodations arm, The Ascott, has introduced 3 tactical cooperations intended for sizing its AI-ready facilities, as it seeks to place itself at the center of “agentic business”.

This, consequently, will allow AI assistants acting upon part of visitors to better match stays based on their preferences, the company adds.

Throughout the new infrastructure, Cubby can potentially expand “from travel companion to individual travel representative”, with agentic features such as comparing options, planning itineraries and completing reservations in behalf of guests, says Ascott.

Ascott’s 3 new AI-focused partnerships are with global consulting company Accenture, Spain-headquartered travel technology business Amadeus and Switzerland’s EHL Hospitality Organization School.

Rollout of the training has started with the Ascott label, and are going to be followed by Oakwood, Citadines and others.

The term pertains to a developing form of e-commerce where autonomous, AI-powered agents complete tasks for users like buying products or, in Ascott’s case, book travel stays.
